Norwegian Wood

Thanks the to famous 60s band with "the hair-do", the word Norwegian seemed nice and a familiar territory till the plight of the Bhattacharya family came to my knowledge. All I can think of is....what if? what if there was a Norwegian couple in India, whose children would be taken away by some Indian authority on the pretext of.....ummm....them having weird eating habits....or staying up late (because of the messed up Norwegian solar phenomenon). What would happen then?

I just wonder whether they are getting away with this because of their skin colour? their level of economic development? or because they have clean energy technology? I cannot think of a plausible emotional, social, political, geographical or economical reason why they are being allowed to hold on to these children for even one more night? If today the Norwegian authorities come out and say "We will keep the children because we have a cooler coastline!" , then probably the parents will have no defense....because let's admit it, their coastline looks amazing. Anything short of that is simply unacceptable.

If population is the only concern of the Norwegians, then am sure that there are plenty of other ways in which Indians can be of assistance to them. Yes pun intended. We are, after all, historically a very fertile race. Only Zeus Himself can match us in that department. Our last census is testament to this fact as well.

If Woody Allen was Indian and were asked to speak on this topic, he would have probably gotten up on the stage of The Comedy Store in Mumbai, fidgeted for a moment, wrung his hands together and said "I read about this Norwegian incident and uh..I wanted to do to a Norwegian woman what this UPA government has been doing the country for the last eight years"

If it were up to me, I would have bashed them with an iron rod
